The Intense Pulsed Neutron Source (IPNS) Division at Argonne National
Laboratory has an opening for a staff scientist (see
http://www.pns.anl.gov/Jobs/Staffchemspec.htm).
We are looking for a highly motivated physical chemist or physicist with a
strong background in chemical spectroscopy and neutron or x-ray scattering.
The successful applicant is expected to carry out independent research and
collaborative studies with users, and to participate in instrument
development and operation in association with the recently upgraded
quasielastic neutron scattering spectrometer (QENS) at IPNS. Candidates
should have a Ph.D. degree in chemistry, physics, materials science or
related field, preferably with research experience after the Ph.D. degree.
Some of the research areas that the candidate would likely participate in
include: (1) vibrational spectroscopy of hydrogen-bonded molecular solids,
(2) molecular motion of adsorbates in porous materials such as zeolites, (3)
diffusion of water in biological gels, microemulsions and hydrated polymers,
and (4) molecular dynamics simulations of these systems.
Applications should include a curriculum vitae, a list of publications, and
three reference letters addressed to Dr. James W. Richardson, Jr., Intense
Pulsed Neutron Source Division, Bldg. 360, Argonne National Laboratory, 9700
S. Cass Ave., Argonne, IL. 60439, U. S. A. or e-mail to:
JWRichardson at anl.gov.
For additional information, please refer to Argonne Home Page on the
internet - http://www.anl.gov/welcome.html or IPNS at
