PostDoctoral Research Fellowship
University College London
Department of Physics and Astronomy

Applications are invited for a PostDoctoral Research Fellowship to work with
Professor Keith McEwen at UCL on magnetism in novel heavy fermion, non-Fermi
liquid and related systems.

The project will involve the preparation of samples and measurements of
their electrical, magnetic and thermodynamic properties at UCL, and neutron
scattering experiments at ISIS, ILL and other facilities.

The successful applicant will have a PhD in condensed matter physics, and
experience in some relevant experimental techniques. Expertise in neutron
scattering is desirable, but not essential. The ability to work creatively
and independently, but within a team environment, is important.

The post is based in London and is funded for 2 years. Salary will be on the
RA1A scale (£ 18420 to £26613 p.a, depending on age and experience). The
starting date will be 4 January 2000 or as soon as possible thereafter.

Further information about UCL, the Department of Physics and Astronomy, and
condensed matter and materials physics research at UCL may be found at the
following web sites: http://www.ucl.ac.uk, http://www.phys.ucl.ac.uk, and

Applicants should send a full CV, with list of publications, and the names
(and email addresses) of 2 referees to Prof. K A McEwen, Department of
Physics and Astronomy, University College London, Gower Street, London WC1E
6BT, UK. (fax: +44 20 7679 1360, email: k.mcewen at ucl.ac.uk), by 30
November 1999. Informal enquiries are welcomed.
