University of New South Wales, Sydney, Australia

The School of Chemistry is a leading centre for teaching and chemical research in Australia. Current
research strengths are in the areas of synthetic chemistry, supramolecular chemistry and catalysis,
chemical analysis and instrumentation, surface science and technology, spectroscopy, applications of
theory, mass spectrometry and gas phase ion chemistry. The School has full access to a range of
cutting edge research instrumentation, including high field NMR mass (including FTICR), Raman and
EPR spectrometers, electron and atomic force microscopy, surface analysis (XPS (5 instruments), AES,
SIMS), X-ray single crystal and powder diffraction, ICP atomic emission, high performance computing,
and molecular modelling There are currently 25 academic staff and approximately 75 research students
and postdoctoral fellows. Teaching activities extend to over 2000 students annually. The areas of
research specialisation of the new positions are unspecified. The School is seeking outstanding and
innovative researchers who will both complement and build on the existing research strengths. There
is particular interest in expanding the areas of biological chemistry, materials and spectroscopy.
