Postdoctoral Opportunities
for Neutron Scattering Research
at Oak Ridge National Laboratory

Oak Ridge National laboratory (ORNL) has immediate openings for one or more
postdoctoral fellows in neutron scattering research at the solid state
division.
The current neutron source at ORNL is the High Flux Isotope Reactor (HFIR),
a light water moderated reactor, now operating at 85 MW. Current upgrades
for the HFIR, expected to be finished by November 2001, include the
addition of a cold neutron source and a system of thermal neutron guides.
The focus of our
current research program is to use neutron as a probe to study strongly
correlated electron
materials including high-transition temperature superconductors and
colossal magneto-resistance
manganese oxides. Interested individuals with
neutron and/or x-ray scattering experience, single crystal growth
experience using the traveling-floating
zone method are strongly encouraged to apply.
Submit a Curriculum Vitae, a list of publications,
and arrange for three letters of references to be sent to: Dr. Pengcheng
Dai, Solid State Division,
Mail Stop 6393, Oak Ridge National Laboratory, Oak Ridge,
Tennessee 37831, e-mail: daip at ornl.gov. Oak Ridge National
Laboratory is an affirmative action/equal opportunity
institution. Women and minorities are especially encouraged to apply.
