Dear Colleague:

Please alert any interested candidates concerning this Postdoctoral
position that we hope to fill by midyear.

Postdoctoral Fellow at ExxonMobil Research and Engineering Company

This person will carry out fundamental studies on the dynamics of
soft-matter. A major focus of the work will be the utilization of
dynamical neutron scattering in addressing the behavior of complex
hydrocarbon materials. These include polymers, complex-fluids, crude
oils, lubricants, etc. One goal of the work is to correlate the dynamics
over a broad range of time and length scales. Relations between
microscopic dynamics and rheoloic behavior will be sought.

A background in physics, physical chemistry, polymer physics or chemical
engineering is preferred. A familiarity with dynamical scattering methods
such as light or neutron scattering is desirable. Familiarity with
rheologic techniques and interpretation would be useful. The post-doc
will have an opportunity to utilize extensive experimental facilities.
In-house facilities include static and dynamic laser light scattering
instruments, and an 18kW Rigaku X Ray Scattering Facility. We also have
facilities at NIST for static and dynamic neutron scattering and
facilities at NSLS and APS for synchrotron x-ray scattering. Communication
of the results through presentations at conferences and through
publications is an important component of the work. Collaboration with
members of the scientific community is also encouraged.
