The Hahn-Meitner-Institut Berlin invites applications for a
postdoctoral position in the field of residual stress and
texture analysis using diffraction methods.

The Hahn-Meitner-Institut is a German National
Laboratory and a member of the Hermann von Helmholtz
Association of National Research Centers. It is located
in Berlin, has about 850 employees, and hosts the Berlin
Neutron Scattering Center (BENSC,
{ HYPERLINK http://www.hmi.de/bensc/index_en.html }http://www.hmi.de/bensc/index_en.html), a user facility
open to scientists from all over the world. To probe the
structure and dynamics of condensed matter, BENSC
provides scientists with a state-of-the-art neutron
scattering instrumentation and sample environment
equipment.

                       Postdoctoral position
             Materials Scientist, Physicist, Chemist,

The position is tenable for 2 years and
available as of 1 January 2005

The position is open to post-doctoral candidates who
hold a PhD degree in materials science, physics or
chemistry and have experience in residual stress
analysis as well as neutron scattering methods. Within
the framework of ZET (center for residual stress and
texture analysis) the successful candidate will be
expected to participate in the operation of the especially
designed diffractometer STRESS-SPEC located at the
new neutron source FRM II in Munich. She/he will also
use the materials science diffractometers E3 and E7 at
BENSC for the analysis of residual stresses and
textures within highly loaded components in cooperation
with industrial partners.
