The Hahn-Meitner-Institut Berlin invites applications for a post-
doctoral position in Neutron Scattering Spectroscopy in complex
matter.

We are looking for a highly motivated scientist with a Ph.D. in
physics or chemistry and experience in neutron scattering along with
good communication skills, who will join the international team of
the Berlin Neutron Scattering Center (BENSC). She/He will support our
scientific activities in the field of dynamics and functionality in
complex matter (magnetic and structural disorder, (spin)glasses,
polymers, biological matter) using high resolution inelastic neutron
scattering techniques and computational modelling. The successful
candidate will also be involved in the development of new
instrumentation concepts using advanced computational methods. The
particular center of interest will be the area of polarised neutrons
and Neutron Spin Echo spectroscopy. She/he will contribute to the
commissioning of the wide angle neutron spin echo spectrometer SPAN
in the new neutron guide hall of BENSC and will provide scientific
support and assistance to external users at this spectrometer.
The post represents an excellent opportunity for young scientists to
broaden their experience and develop their expertise. The position is
tenable for three years with a salary of about 20.000 - 23.000 EUR
net income per annum depending on age, family status and
qualification.
The Hahn-Meitner-Institut is a German National Laboratory and a
member of the Herman von Helmholtz Association of National Research
Centres and has about 600 employees. It hosts the Berlin Neutron
Scattering Centre (BENSC), a user facility open to scientists from
all over the world. To probe the structure and dynamics of solids and
liquids, BENSC provides scientists with state-of-the-art neutron
scientific equipment.
