Symposium for Bill Buyers: Celebrating Neutron Scattering Research in Canada

On 4 June 2006, NRC will host a one-day symposium celebrating the career of
NRC alumnus, Dr. Bill Buyers. In 2005, Bill retired from his 40-year career
at Chalk River, having joined the lab in 1965 as a post-doctoral student.

During his career, Bill Buyers has applied neutron scattering with great
ingenuity to explore the domain of highly-correlated electron systems, and
to challenge theories of condensed matter. This symposium will be an
occasion to celebrate his work and to discuss the past, present and future
of neutron scattering in Canada for research in magnetism, superconductivity
and other quantum phenomena.
