Visiting Professor position

at the CEMHTI-CNRS in Orleans, France

A position for a visiting scientist is available for 1 or 2 years at the "High Temperature site" of the Laboratory: Conditions Extrêmes et Matériaux : Haute Température et Irradiation (CEMHTI) in Orleans, France.

The work performed at the laboratory concerns the study of the physical and chemical properties of materials in extreme conditions of temperatures that can reach 3000°C. These studies include various aspects from the material preparation to the determination of physical properties (thermal, radiative and transport properties).

The researcher will be involved in a research project that aims to study the structure, dynamics and transport properties of high temperature liquids: glasses and metallic alloys. This study includes an experimental part, mainly carried out at major facilities (neutron sources and synchrotrons), and a modelling part.

* Structural measurements will be carried out at SOLEIL, ESRF and ILL, using x-ray and neutron diffraction and EXAFS.

* Studies of the dynamics will be carried out at the ESRF and ILL using inelastic x-ray and neutron scattering.

* Transport properties will be studied at the CEMHTI using an electrodeless device that is under development.

Part of this work will be carried out in the framework of collaborations with the Universities of Wales, Bristol and Bath (UK).

This experimental part will be combined with the use of modelling tools (RMC and/or MD simulations) in collaboration with several laboratories.

This position is managed by the Institute for advanced Studies in Orleans:

The salary depends on the experience of the candidate and free lodging is provided (flat in Orleans).

This position is restricted to non-French citizens with a research experience of at least 10-15 years after PhD.
