The Paul Scherrer Institute is with 1300 employees the largest research centre for the natural and engineering sciences in Switzerland and a worldwide leading user laboratory. Its research activities are concentrated on the three main topics of solid-state physics, energy and environmental research as well as human health.

Your tasks:

As head of laboratory you will be responsible for the staff, the beamlines and the user programme for neutron scattering. In addition, you will support the department head in defining the department’s strategy. You will also be responsible for outreach to similar institutions and users of our facilities in Switzerland and worldwide and for the acquisition of income/projects from external sources.

Your profile:

You hold a PhD in natural sciences and are an active and recognized scientist using neutron scattering as a key research tool. You have experience in leading projects and inspiring mixed groups of scientists, engineers and technical staff. You have excellent communication skills in English and/or German and are a team oriented personality.
