[Neutron] Postdoc Position Test Beam Line at HZB

Postdoc Test Beamline

In the framework of a German wide BMBF funded project related to 
instrumentation developments for the future European spallation source 
ESS we are looking for a Postdoc to join corresponding efforts at the 
Helmholtz Zentrum Berlin (http://www.helmholtz-berlin.de).

The main objectives of the post are:

-	Design and construction of a test-beamline at a cold neutron guide 
beamline in the neutron guide hall NLH1 of the BER2 reactor of the 
Helmholtz Zentrum Berlin for tests and development of instrument 
components such as guides, choppers, detectors, polarizers etc. for 
future ESS applications

-	Development and test of new methods and experimental approaches such 
as spin-echo resolved scattering techniques, focussing and beam 
modulation in space and time etc. with a strong focus on own initiative

-	Conducting corresponding simulations and working in close 
collaboration with a working group at the institute for neutron ray 
tracing simulations

-	Conducting and supporting corresponding tests and measurements 
especially at the future test beam line, involving own independent ideas 
and approaches as well as in close collaboration with partners in 
Germany (TUM, GKSS, FZJ etc.) and internationally.

The successful candidate will also participate in the research work. 
She/He is encouraged to conduct her/his own research programme in the 
field of condensed matter physics using neutron scattering facilities at 
HZB in general.
