Dear colleague,

On 3 and 4 April 2013, KTH Royal Institute of Technology is organizing in Stockholm the European Spallation Source Science Workshop on New Generation Green Construction Materials. By bringing together experts on construction materials with experts on neutron scattering techniques, we hope that exciting new directions will be defined in this 2-days Workshop that would lead to a new approach in designing greener construction material. Today, many of the design criteria are still based on the old-fashioned methods in which underlying material behavior is not really employed to its maximum, since underlying material response is not fully understood.
By bringing together experts from various construction material disciplines (e.g. asphalt concrete, cement, wood) we hope to establish a cross-fertilization of ideas and common paths. At the Workshop some examples of first successful implementation of neutron scattering techniques for advanced characterization to enhance material design will be presented and ESS experts will highlight current advances in neutron scattering technologies.
The Workshop is organized under the auspices of the European Spallation Source (ESS), KTH Materials Platform and KTH Road2Science Center. Participation is limited and will be granted on a first-come-first-serve basis. The fee for participation in the workshop is 150 Euros and you’ll be asked to give a Poster presentation during the Workshop. On the registration website you have to submit a brief abstract of your poster and you can download the poster format! Your abstract will be included in the Proceedings of the workshop.
