LECTURER IN CHEMISTRY (PHYSICAL CHEMISTRY)

cohort of undergraduate students, including large numbers of talented students from all over Australia. It has a large cohort of
postgraduate research students and offers a vibrant and world class research environment.
In order to maintain and enhance the School’s teaching and research capacity across the broad discipline of chemistry,
applications are invited for a strategic appointment in any area of physical chemistry to undertake research, lecturing and
laboratory teaching at undergraduate, honours and postgraduate levels.
This is a long‐term continuing career opportunity that will allow you to develop independent research and to become a new
research leader for the School. You will contribute to teaching and administration as a member of the academic staff. You will
also be expected to take part in the School’s professional and community engagement activities.
To be successful in this position, you will have:
 a PhD (or equivalent)
 substantial postdoctoral experience and expertise in physical chemistry
 an ability to contribute to teaching in lecture, tutorial and laboratory settings at all levels
 a demonstrated ability to supervise students at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels
 a demonstrated ability to undertake independent research
 excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Prior experience in teaching Physical Chemistry and success in attracting competitive research funding will be highly regarded.
Advanced skills in research training and supervision at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels including the writing of
research grant applications and research papers, and other duties associated with a teaching and research academic role are
highly desirable.
The position is full‐time continuing subject to the satisfactory completion of a confirmation period for new appointees.
Membership of a University approved superannuation scheme is a condition of employment for new appointees.
Remuneration package: up to $124K p.a. (consisting of a base salary Level B, leave loading and up to 17% employer’s
contribution to superannuation). Some assistance towards relocation cost and visa sponsorship may be available for the
successful appointee if required and level of appointment will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.
