[Neutron] Job announcement - NPL instrument scientist, neutron diffraction

The Neutron Physics Laboratory (NPL) at the Nuclear Physics Institute, 
Řež near Prague, Czech Republic, invites applications for an /instrument 
scientist position in the neutron diffraction group/. The position is 
open to candidates who have (or are about to receive) a PhD in physics, 
chemistry, material science and engineering or related areas, and have a 
proven record of experience with experimental research in materials 
science. The candidate should preferably have a background in neutron or 
X-ray diffraction methods andgood technical and communication skills.

The successful candidate will participate in the research and 
development work associated with neutron scattering instrumentation at 
the neutron diffractometers dedicated to characterization of 
microstrains and deformation mechanism in technologically important 
materials. Responsibilities will include the cooperation with visiting 
researchers in conducting experiments and data reductionin the subjects 
like microstrain characterization of materials within the open access 
user program of CANAM. She/he will also participate in the instrumental 
equipment and software upgrade projectsat the diffractometer. The 
instrument scientist is also expected to develop her/his own research 
program using the diffractometer and/or other facilities at NPL, 
preferably in the field of characterization of microstrains and 
deformation mechanism in alloys and related topics. For further

The appointment will initially be for three years with the possibility 
of extension (subject to satisfactory performance).
