Dear Colleagues,

This is a reminder for application of the 2nd Croucher Summer Course on Neutron Scattering, to be held on August 7-13, 2016, at the City University of Hong Kong. The deadline for application has been extended to 12 May, 2016.

Confirmed lecturers include:
Professor Takeshi Egami (UT/ORNL, USA)
Professor Robert McGreevy (ISIS, UK)
Professor Stephen Nagler (ORNL, USA)
Professor Brent Fultz (Caltech, USA)
Professor Frank Klose (ANSTO, Australia)
Professor Robert Robinson (ANSTO, Australia)
Professor Bruce Gaulin (McMaster University, Canada)
Dr. Elliot Gilbert (ANSTO, Australia)
Dr. W. C. Woo (Korea Atomic Energy Research Institute, Korea)
Professor Xun-Li Wang (CityU, Hong Kong)

For more information, please visit the website, https://projects.croucher.org.hk/summer-courses/neutron-scattering-a-powerful-method-for-materials-research-1

Applications are invited from graduate students and early career scientists who wish to learn about the theory and applications of neutron scattering in materials research. This year’s course will empathise on inelastic neutron scattering to study the dynamics, and nanostructure determination by small angle neutron scattering and neutron reflectometry. Data analysis will be a focus of the summer course, and tutors will be arranged to guide the students in learning, in addition to the lecturers. In keeping with the residential college style of learning requested by the Croucher Foundation, all lecturers and tutors will generally stay for the full duration of the course.

There is a registration fee of $3000 HKD (or $387 USD) which includes lodging, lunch, and coffee breaks. The number of participants in the course will be limited to 30, in order to facilitate greater interaction between participants and lecturers and tutors. A limited number of scholarships will be available to students in need, to help cover the registration fee and/or defray their travel cost.
