PROFESSORSHIP IN PHYSICS WITH FOCUS ON MAGNETISM at LUND UNIVERSITY, SWEDEN,
ref. no. PA2016/374

Applications are invited for a permanent faculty position, at the rank of
Full Professor, in the area of magnetism. The position is placed in the
Division of Synchrotron Radiation Research, Department of Physics, Faculty
of Science at Lund University, Lund, Sweden.

Lund University is the host of the national Swedish MAX IV Laboratory for
synchrotron radiation (www.maxiv.lu.se) and the European Spallation Source,
which is being built on the outskirts of Lund
(www.europeanspallationsource.se). These two facilities, together with Lund
University’s own materials science laboratories, will create a strong,
globally unique environment for research on novel, correlated materials. We
are a leading research division with current research activities which
include surface science, microscopy and characterisation of nanostructure
and surface chemical processes (www.sljus.lu.se).

The new professor will initiate new research on magnetism which can exploit
the possibilities for neutron scattering/spectroscopy that the ESS will
bring and which can take advantage of the possibilities for synchrotron
radiation experiments at the MAX IV facility. Educational developments
along these lines are also included in the duties.

A PhD and significant evidence of excellence in research in experimental
magnetism and the potential for effective teaching are required.
Responsibilities include the supervision of graduate students, as well as
teaching at the undergraduate and graduate levels. The effective date of
appointment is negotiable.

The application review process will begin on September 15, 2016, and we
anticipate a decision after interviews in late 2016. Lund University
