at Oak Ridge National Laboratory operates two world class neutron scattering
facilities, the High Flux Isotope Reactor and the Spallation Neutron
Source.  At these facilities several thousand state of the art neutron
detectors are used to carry out research in the physical sciences.  To
insure that these continue to be cutting edge facilities, the detector team
supports the activities of the neutron scattering instruments that are in the
users program, manufactures and installs detector systems for new instruments,
and develops new neutron detectors for future applications.  These
facilities are experiencing rapid growth, and to keep pace the detector team is
looking for a scientist who can make a significant contribution in all three
areas.  This scientist would provide high level support for operating
instruments, work with team members who will build and install new systems, and
successfully complete neutron detector research that will benefit science in
many fields including research at neutron scattering facilities

desire to work in a team environment on technically challenging problems
required. Demonstrated skills in working with broad scientific communities
