ICNS2009 Draws Over 650 Abstract Submissions </span><span class="style54"><br>

</span> <span class="style54">Over 650 abstracts were submitted to the<a href="http://www.mrs.org/s_mrs/sec.asp?CID=18023&DID=231750"> International Conference on Neutron Scattering 2009 <br>
(ICNS 2009)</a> for oral and poster presentations. As a result of this extraordinary response additional oral concurrent sessions have been added to the program. A second evening poster session was also added to accommodate demand. More than 20 exhibit booths will be in the conference exhibit hall-- neutron facilities and industrial vendors. <br>
<br>
The Program Committee has organized an exciting week of events for<strong> ICNS 2009</strong>. Sunday, May 3, starts the week off with several satellite meetings/events held at the convention center, culminating with an evening reception opening the conference. The technical program begins Monday with keynote sessions from <strong>Patricia Dehmer, </strong>Deputy Director for Science Programs, USDOE Office of Science, and <strong>John Root</strong>, Director, Canadian Neutron Beam Centre, discussing the exciting state of neutron scattering throughout the world. During the week there is a strong program of plenary, invited, and contributed talks covering topics in many areas of science and neutron techniques that are sure to be attractive in their scope and variety. <strong>Other conference highlights include</strong>: </span> <ul class="style76">
<li class="style54"> a Monday evening tour of SNS and HFIR at Oak Ridge National Laboratory</li>
<li class="style54"> poster sessions both Tuesday and Wednesday</li>
<li class="style54">a reception, exhibits and a “walk-around” banquet on Wednesday</li>
<li class="style54"> PLUS, a grand finale on Thursday, May 7--a farewell mixer followed at 5PM by a plenary lecture from <strong>Suni Sinha</strong>, UC San Diego.</li>
</ul>
<span class="style54">All of these activities anticipate a well-packed meeting that will provide ample time to both renew friendships and discuss current research activities.
