attenuation coefficient over a broad incident neutron energy spectrum. In
recent years, different methods of obtaining energy-selectivity in the thermal
to cold neutron energy range have been developed, considerably extending the
application range of traditional neutron imaging. Contrast variation, and
mapping structural properties such as crystallographic textures and residual
strains with high spatial resolution can be envisaged. Experimental data
obtained at steady-state and pulsed neutron sources highlight the new
opportunities for energy-dependent imaging applications for material and
engineering sciences. There is an increasing need for discussing the
implementation of time-of-flight neutron imaging at existing and future pulsed
spallation neutron sources, where the energy range can be selected almost
