<p class=Default><span style='font-size:11.5pt'>The Neutron Scattering Science
Division (NSSD) at Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL) invites applications
for a Neutron Scattering Instrument Associate. The mission of the division is
to carry out and enable excellent and vibrant science programs using neutron
scattering instruments by supporting a world-class user science program, developing
and participating in signature science programs across ORNL, and conducting
cutting-edge in-house research. The NSSD is responsible for operating and
developing the neutron scattering instruments located at both the Spallation
Neutron Source (SNS) and the High Flux Isotope Reactor (HFIR). Research at the
facilities will encompass the physical, chemical, materials, biological, and
medical sciences. <o:p></o:p></span></p>

<p class=Default><span style='font-size:11.5pt'>The Neutron Scattering
instrument Associate serves as the technical specialist in assisting users and
NSSD personnel in the performance of experiments and analysis of the results
utilizing NSSD beamline instruments. <o:p></o:p></span></p>

technical guidance to users and NSSD Instrument Scientists in the performance

specialist for the operation and maintenance of sophisticated equipment used

develops improvements or changes in neutron scattering instrument components or

under safe and environmentally sound conditions, and ensures that NSSD users

engineering or related field or B.S. degree plus 2 years of experience in a
science or engineering field. Good communications and interpersonal skills
required. Ability to work in a team environment required. Demonstrated computer
literacy including proficiency in word processing and communications skills
required. Direct experience working on neutron scattering related instruments
and software is highly desirable. Must be capable of working with scientists
and engineers from verbal or written instructions. Must have demonstrated the
ability to bridge the gap between other technical disciplines during
installation, commissioning, and operations. Periods of moderate travel and
off-normal work hours will be required. <o:p></o:p></span></p>
