This position involves developing new low and high temperature (e.g., 0.1K-2500K) and magnetic field (e.g., 15T) sample environment capabilities as well as maintaining existing equipment that includes closed cycle He refrigerators, He dilution systems, He cryostats, superconducting magnets, and resistive and optical furnaces. The successful candidate must have demonstrated previous experience in these areas and show a desire to stay abreast of new developments that can expand the Center's capabilities. The Lujan Center is a DOE national user facility that hosts researchers from around the world to do work on its 11 neutron scattering instruments. This position involves working with an instrument advisory team and local engineering expertise in final design and construction of the instrument that will become the major inelastic capability for the Lujan Center. A Ph.D. degree in experimental condensed matter or materials science is required with a minimum of five years experience in neutron scattering or related research.
