postdoctoral research associate position is available in the Physics
Department
at <st1:place w:st="on"><st1:PlaceName w:st="on">Washington</st1:PlaceName>
<st1:PlaceType w:st="on">University</st1:PlaceType></st1:place> for
immediate
occupation.<span style=""> </span>Primarily responsibilities
are the design, construction and implementation of a novel
electrostatic
levitation facility that will be used for neutron studies of
supercooled
liquids (Neutron Electrostatic Levitation, or NESL, facility). When
completed,
NESL will allow unprecedented studies of the structure and dynamics of
metallic
liquids.<span style=""> </span><o:p></o:p></span>

<span style="font-size: 11pt;">The
successful candidate for this position will work with Professor Ken
Kelton and
two graduate students in his research group to construct the NESL. <span
style=""> </span>The facility will be constructed in the
Physics Department at <st1:place w:st="on"><st1:PlaceName w:st="on">Washington</st1:PlaceName>
<st1:PlaceType w:st="on">University</st1:PlaceType></st1:place>. The
postdoctoral research associate will coordinate with members of
Professor Alan
Goldman’s research group at <st1:place w:st="on"><st1:PlaceName
w:st="on">Iowa</st1:PlaceName> <st1:PlaceType w:st="on">State</st1:PlaceType>
<st1:PlaceType w:st="on">University</st1:PlaceType></st1:place>,
to integrate key subunits (for which they are responsible) into the
NESL
facility.<span style=""> </span>When completed, the NESL
facility will be installed at the Spallation Neutron Source for
operation.<span style=""> </span>During installation and testing the
postdoctoral research associate will work with Dr. Xun-Li Wang (Leader
of the
Powder Diffraction Group at the SNS) and with members of Professor
Takeshi
Egami’s research group (<st1:place w:st="on"><st1:PlaceType w:st="on">University</st1:PlaceType>
of <st1:PlaceName w:st="on">Tennessee</st1:PlaceName></st1:place>).<span
