</b></span><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Verdana; ">The successful candidate will provide electronics and data acquisition expertise for the detector group. This initially focuses upon gaseous detectors, with thin layers of Boron-10 as
a converter material. ESS needs in terms of electronics channels are likely to be 1-2 orders of magnitude higher compared to the present generation of instruments at neutron sources, hence techniques used in other academic disciplines are expected to be adapted.
The successful candidate will lead the effort in surveying, identifying and adapting existing electronics and data acquisition systems, in prototyping and testing appropriate electronics for specific instruments, and in defining standards for such equipment.
