<p class="MsoNormal">The Neutron Sciences Directorate (NScD) at Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL) operates the High Flux Isotope Reactor<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">(HFIR), the United States’ highest flux reactor based neutron source, and the Spallation Neutron Source (SNS), the world’s<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">most intense pulsed accelerator based neutron source. Together these facilities operate 30 instruments for neutron scattering<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">research, each year carrying out in excess of 1,000 experiments in the physical, chemical, materials, biological and medical<o:p></o:p></p>

<p class="MsoNormal">for a Post-Doctoral Research Associate to work on the development of novel neutron spin Larmor labeling techniques. In this<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">role, you will be expected to carry out research and development of Superconducting Radio Frequency Neutron Spin<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">Manipulation devices and their implementation for material research at the HFIR and SNS. You will use the devices to<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">explore the dynamics of ionic liquids and skyrmions.<o:p></o:p></p>

<p class="MsoNormal"><b>Major Duties/Responsibilities<o:p></o:p></b></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">You will join a research team of scientists, engineers and programmers to develop and implement the neutron spin Larmor<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">labeling techniques which involves significant instrumentation development. You will also have the opportunity to work with<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">the Instrument Methods, Projects and Technologies Group, colleagues from other ORNL divisions, and university partners to:<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">* Simulate and optimize the radio frequency magnetic device using a finite element magnetic field modeling package.<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">* Fabricate and test devices, comparing measured performance with simulation expectations.<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">* Deploy the devices on neutron scattering beam lines to investigate dynamics in materials, such as ionic liquids and<o:p></o:p></p>
