<p><span style="font-family:"Cambria","serif";color:black">The Australian Nuclear Science and Technology Organisation (ANSTO) is home to Australia’s nuclear science and technical expertise. More than 1000 scientists, engineers and experts work at ANSTO and
use nuclear science and technology to answer the big questions in the world around us – improving health outcomes, increasing our understanding of the environment and climate change, and identifying new opportunities for Australian industry.<o:p></o:p></span></p>

<p><span style="font-family:"Cambria","serif";color:black">We operate much of our country’s landmark science facilities including one of the world’s most modern multipurpose nuclear research reactors, OPAL. One purpose of OPAL is to provide neutrons to a suite
of 15 neutron-scattering instruments within the Australian Centre for Neutron Scattering (ACNS), the leading centre for neutron scatterers in the Southern Hemisphere.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p><span style="font-family:"Cambria","serif";color:black"> <o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p style="margin-bottom:12.0pt"><span style="font-family:"Cambria","serif";color:black">We are seeking suitably qualified scientists to step into on-going positions of Instrument Scientist on the following neutron-scattering instruments, PLATYPUS (1 position),
KOOKABURRA (1 position), and DINGO/KOWARI (1 position). We are particularly interested in applicants with experience in polarised-neutron reflectometry, small-angle scattering (neutron or X-ray), or radiography, tomography and strain scanning (neutron or
X-ray). The DINGO/KOWARI role will be shared 80%/20% across the two instruments.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p style="margin-bottom:12.0pt"><span style="font-family:"Cambria","serif";color:black">The Instrument Scientist operates, maintains, and improves a neutron-scattering instrument at the OPAL research reactor for the benefit and development of the user community.
The Instrument Scientist will be required to undertake research and development as well contribute to the development of the user community leading to significant outcomes that meet with ANSTO’s strategic direction.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
