A PhD scholarship in chemistry is offered for research into biological patterning of surfaces based at the School of Chemical Sciences at the University of Auckland.
The interface between solid surfaces and biological systems is essential for a number of biotechnological devices, but is challenging to study.
The student will use biological building and chemical methods to pattern and characterise solid surfaces. This will include using advanced characterisation techniques including synchrotron X-ray and neutron scattering, electron microscopy, and ellipsometry.
