The Department of Physics, Institute of Solid State Physics, Junior Professorship in Neutron Spectroscopy of Condensed Matter offers within the framework of a BMBF project at the earliest possible date a fixed-term position as Postdoc in Experimental Solid State Physics (E 13 TV-L) related to the development of the triple-axis neutron spectrometer PANDA at the research reactor FRM II in Munich. The position is limited until 30.06.2015 with the possibility of extension (The period of employment is governed by the Fixed Term Research Contracts Act [Wissenschaftszeitvertragsgesetz – WissZeitVG]). The employment will take place in Garching near Munich.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the development of a new multianalyzer/multidetector module of the PANDA spectrometer. He or she will also take part in a number of ongoing scientific projects in the field of highly correlated electron systems with ample possibilities for independent research.
PhD degree in condensed matter physics, material science, or equivalent; significant experience performing experimental research at large-scale facilities using scattering methods (neutron or x-ray scattering); detailed understanding of the neutron-scattering instrumentation; ability to think innovatively and to work as a member of a team and independently; as well as self-motivation; perfect command of English for publishing high-quality research articles and successful communication with international collaboration partners.
