Chalmers University of Technology invites applications to one postdoc position. The postdoc will participate in projects focused on studies of structure-dynamics relationships in energy relevant, mostly hydrogen-containing, oxides, which may be applicable in e.g. next-generation solid oxide fuel cells and other electrochemical technologies. The overall aim is to develop a deeper understanding of the coupling between the materials’ functional properties (such as ion conduction) to their atomic-scale structure and dynamics. The primary tools to this end will involve the use of neutron scattering techniques, complemented by optical vibrational spectroscopy, available in-house and at international large-scale neutron scattering facilities. The work will be conducted in collaboration with other research groups at Chalmers, as well as with colleagues at other universities in Sweden and in other countries.
The position is for two years, but may be extended up to four years, and will support science programs funded by the Swedish Research Council. The successful candidate will be based at the Department of Applied Physics of Chalmers.
For the position we are seeking a person with a doctorate degree in an area of direct relevance for the project. A strong background in neutron spectroscopy (QENS/INS, and/or DINS) on solid-state materials is desirable.
