Job description

Your tasks

You will be a leading engineer/scientist in the development of neutron focusing/polarizing optics for existing instruments at the Swiss Spallation Neutron Source (SINQ) and new instruments at the European Spallation Source (ESS). The development work includes test experiments at SINQ, the development of prototypes, Monte-Carlo simulations and operating two sputtering machines. Project management tasks will be also part of your work including aquisition of external project funding.

Requested Profile

You hold a PhD in physics, chemistry or engenering and you have experiences with X-Ray or neutron scattering techniques, ideally in reflectometry. In addition you have experiences in use of different Monte Carlo packages (like MCNP and McStas). A fundamental knowledge of multi-layer systems is an advantage. Good communication skills in German and English are essential.
