Introduction

A three-year Ph.D. scholarship in experimental polymer physics is available starting from October 1, 2017 based at the research group in physics and mathematics (IMFUFA), Department of Science and Environment, Roskilde University, Denmark. The scholarship is funded by the Danish Research Council with the project “Nano-scale restructuring of confined block copolymers investigated using in-situ time resolved GISAXS” (filmSTAR) and is supervised by associate professor Dorthe Posselt.

Job description

In the project, restructuring processes in thin films of star block copolymers are investigated using advanced x-ray scattering methods at international large-scale synchrotron facilities. The films are prepared and characterized using different lab based techniques in collaboration with DTU Nanotech.

For further information, you are welcome to contact associate professor Dorthe Posselt (, tel. +45 24282725)

Requested Profile

We are looking for an ambitious and open-minded candidate with a master’s degree in physics and/or material science or similar qualifications and with a good working knowledge of mathematics. The successful candidate is expected to enjoy working in the lab with sophisticated experimental techniques. An important part of the project is data analysis and screening of the large amount of x-ray data obtained during vapor treatment of thin films together with modelling of GISAXS maps (Grazing Incidence X-ray Scattering).
