Description of Institution

The Technical University Munich operates the high flux Neutron Source Heinz Maier-Leibnitz (FRM II) located at the scientific campus in Garching, Germany. The neutron source itself, its research instruments as well as the irradiation facilities provide unique possibilities for the scientific and industrial use of neutron beams.

Job description

Your task is the operation and further development of the time-of-flight neutron spectrometer TOFTOF at the FRM II and its scientific use. You collaborate closely with scientist and engineers from different groups and research areas. You pursue you own research topics based on the use of neutron scattering techniques, especially neutron spectroscopy. We are looking for the second instrument scientist a TOFTOF.

The appointment is initially limited; a prolongation is possible. The payment is based on the German pay scale TV-L.

Requested Profile

You have a degree in physics, chemistry, material science or related fields, ideally completed with a PhD / doctorate degree. You have knowledge and experience in the application of scattering techniques or spectroscopy. Persuasive communication skills and ability to work in a team in an international environment are mandatory. Good oral and written English skills are required, German language skills are an asset.
