Introduction

For the expansion and operation of our experimental facilities, we are looking for full time 40.1h / week Instrument scientist in Experimental physics

Description of Institution

The Technical University Munich operates in Garching near Munich the research neutron source Heinz Maier-Leibnitz (FRM II) one of the most powerful and modern neutron sources worldwide. The scientific instruments and the irradiation facilities hold a leading position in the field of research with neutrons and their technical application.

Job description

You can expect a varied activity at the world’s most intense positron source NEPOMUC and thus in the latest cutting edge research with antimatter. Your activities as deputy instrument responsible include the development, construction and operation of measuring instruments at the positron beam facility. These include magnetic and electrostatic
transport systems, vacuum components, computer-based readout and control of various beam parameters. In cooperation with international scientists, you support positron beam experiments as well as the construction, upgrade and operation of scientific instruments. You are pursuing an independent scientific program focusing on the use of
instruments at FRM II.

Requested Profile

You are a postdoctoral scientist in the field of experimental physics and have a high readiness for further scientific education. Ideally, you have practical experience in the field of control electronics, UHV technology and read-out of radiation detectors. You are highly motivated and like working in our young team of scientists.
