The Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL) invites applications for a
post-doctoral position in the Neutron Scattering Section of the Solid State
Division.  The position is available as part of a newly initiated program
in computer methods for neutron scattering data analysis and visualization.
As part of this program new software tools will be developed for both
continuous and pulsed source neutron scattering experiments.  Neutron
scattering and related activities at ORNL are growing in anticipation of
the installation of a cold source and new instrumentation in the High Flux
Isotope Reactor (HFIR) as well as the proposed Spallation Neutron Source.
        The successful candidate will have the opportunity to pursue research in
neutron scattering and will also work closely with researchers in the
Computer Science and Mathematics Division, and the Computational Physics
and Engineering Division.  The ideal candidate should have experience with
neutron scattering and data analysis, computer programming expertise, and
excellent communication skills.
        The High Flux Isotope Reactor is a National User Facility, and ORNL is a
multi-purpose national laboratory managed by Lockheed Martin Energy
Research Corporation for the U.S. Department of Energy. Competitive
salaries and benefits are offered.  The position is for one year with a
possible renewal for up to one additional year. The position is available
