Applications are sought for a postdoc position in neutron scattering. The
position is funded by the Canada Foundation for Innovation as part of its
commitment to the construction of VULCAN at the Spallation Neutron Source
(SNS) in Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL), Oak Ridge,
Tennessee. VULCAN is a "compound" diffractometer designed to tackle a
broad range of problems in materials science and engineering. The
incumbent will be hired through McMaster University, but stationed at Oak
Ridge National Laboratory, working with SNS instrument scientists. He or
she will have an opportunity to conduct independent neutron scattering
research in materials science as well as to contribute to the build up of
VULCAN. A Ph.D. in materials science, materials engineering, physics, or a
related field is required. Experience in neutron scattering in neutron or
X-ray scattering techniques is a plus but not essential. The appointment
is for one-year, renewable in the following years pending on mutual
agreement. Applicants should send a letter of interest describing relevant
experience, a resume, graduate and undergraduate transcripts, and three
references to: SNS Human Resources, Spallation Neutron Source Project, Dept
WWW-PD, 701 Scarboro Road, MS-6478, Oak Ridge, TN 37830 or e-mail to
sns_hr at sns.gov.

Technical inquiries may be directed to Dr. Xun-Li Wang, wangxl at ornl.gov.
