Dear Colleagues,
Please find below a post doc opening announcement for HFR-Petten with the
request to please publish it at your earliest convenience, as the
applications deadline is 31 January 2004.
Post Doc Position: Neutron scattering techniques for engineering
applications at HFR
Applications are invited for a postdoctoral position in the development and
application of neutron scattering methods for engineering investigations .
The scope of the work comprises research on micro-structural
characterisation, residual stress analysis, defects and precipitation
analyses, grain size and texture investigations based on neutron
diffraction, small angle neutron scattering and neutron radiography at the
HFR in Petten, the Netherlands; application of numerical methods in order to
scale up experimental data obtained on downscaled components; development of
advanced numerical models for accurate determination of multi-pass welding
residual stresses and assessment of the impact of residual stress and
defects on structural integrity of welded components relevant to nuclear
safety. Funding for this position, renewable annually to a maximum of two
years, is already available. Further information on the specific
applications envisaged for this research, including eligibility criteria and
application forms can be found at the following web pages:
