Research Associate: Modeling Neutron Reflectometry Data
         University of Maryland / NIST

http://chemnuc-20.umd.edu/~DANSE/

CLOSING DATE: Open Until Filled
DEPARTMENT: Materials Science and Engineering
STARTING SALARY: $45-60k depending on experience.

DUTIES: The DANSE project is a collaborative effort to provide a common
framework for visualization and analysis of neutron scattering data. We are
seeking an individual to develop software for studying near surface nuclear
and magnetic properties of materials using neutron and X-ray reflectometry.
Working with the reflectometry team at the NIST Center for Neutron Research
and the supporting scientific programming staff, the individual will be
responsible for developing 1D and 3D models for use in studying biological
membranes, polymer brushes, and micromagnetic surfaces. The position will
provide an opportunity for interested candidates to develop their own
research program and take advantage of world class neutron instrumentation.
The initial appointment will be for 1 year, with additional years
contingent on good progress. Employment will be with the Department of
Materials Science and Engineering at the University of Maryland with the
job located on the NIST campus in Gaithersburg, MD.

QUALIFICATIONS: Candidates must have a PhD degree in Materials Science or
related discipline. Experience with object-oriented programming, especially
using C++ and Python, is a plus.

TO APPLY: Please send your letter of interest and CV to DANSE-job at nist.gov

Review of applications will begin immediately and continue until the
position is filled.

The University of Maryland is an equal opportunity employer.
