The Delft University of Technology invites candidates to apply for the
position of Full Professor and Section Leader in 'Neutron and Positron
Instruments and Methods' at the Faculty of Applied Sciences, Department
Radiation, Radionuclides & Reactors.

The activities of the section have three main aspects:
(1) Research to invent and identify new ways and new approaches for the
use of neutrons and positrons as research tools
(2) Development of new methods and instrumentation for use locally, and
at major facilities
(3) Application of the new methods and instruments in own research

 Job description:

The successful candidate will take overall responsibility and leadership
of the section NPM2 in the capacity of section leader, and he/she will
have education tasks within the Faculty of Applied Sciences at the BSc,
MSc, and PhD level. He/she will build on our internationally
acknowledged role in the development of neutron and positron techniques,
and promote the effective use of neutrons and positrons within the Dutch
scientific community. Good contacts with large international facilities
such as ISIS, UK, ILL, Grenoble, and in the future with ESS are
essential for the profile of NPM2 as it stands at present. In addition
to instrumentation, the successful candidate would be encouraged to have
(or develop) a scientific activity using neutrons and/or positrons in a
field that is relevant to energy or health.

 The ideal candidate:

has a PhD in physics or a closely related discipline; is creative, able
to invent new ways of applying neutrons and positrons as research tools;
has the ability to initiate and conduct research, particularly within
the field of instrument innovation and development; has experience in
using neutrons and/or positrons for materials research; is a motivating
leader, able to manage the section and to supervise doctoral and
postdoctoral researchers; is an experienced teacher at all university
levels; has established or is able to establish and maintain a network
of interdisciplinary research collaboration; is able to attract external
research funds.
