Forschungszentrum Juelich is the largest interdisciplinary research centre
in Europe and a member of the Hermann von Helmholtz Associations of National
Research Centres.

The Juelich Centre for Neutron Science JCNS invites applications for a
neutron scattering instrument scientist. JCNS operates an outstation at the
new research reactor FRM-II in Munich with its own staff, laboratory
facilities and scattering instruments. The successful candidate will be
instrument responsible for the time-of-flight instrument for diffuse neutron
scattering with polarisation analysis DNS and pursue research in the field
of magnetism and correlated electron system. Major responsibilities include:

*	cooperation in the relocation and commissioning of the
time-of-flight spectrometer with polarisation analysis DNS
*	instrument and method development
*	user operation of the instrument
*	participation with own experiments on the research program of the
institute with scientific focus in magnetism or correlated electron systems.

Required qualifications are:

*	Ph.D. in condensed matter physics or solid state chemistry
*	interest on solving scientific and technical problems
*	ability for teamwork within groups of the Forschungszentrum Juelich
and with the users
*	mobility: frequent travels to the home-institute in Juelich or
experiments at other sources
*	experience in scattering techniques, preferably neutron scattering
and its instrumentation

Employment is initially limited to three years. Equal opportunities are a
cornerstone of our staff policy. Applications from disabled persons are
welcome.

Applications comprising a cover letter, curriculum vitae, list of
publications, three academic referees and a short summary of scientific
achievements should be sent by 30 September to
