Post-Doctoral Fellow & Post-Master Assistant in Biological Small Angle
Scattering

The Center for Structural Molecular Biology (CSMB) of Oak Ridge National
Laboratory (ORNL) (http://www.ornl.gov) has immediate openings for a
Post-Doctoral Fellow and Post Master Research Associate. Applications
are sought from highly creative and motivated individuals who will join
interdisciplinary teams to work in the following areas;

1) Post Doctoral Fellow: Bio-SANS Beam Line ORNL08-68-SCD

We seek a Physicist, Chemist or Structural Biologist to support and
develop neutron small angle scattering analysis of biological
macromolecules. You will be expected to actively participate in the
research activities of the group, to provide user support to a limited
number of visiting researchers and to develop your own independent and
collaborative research in small angle scattering analysis of biological
complexes and assemblies. The post represents an excellent opportunity
for a young postdoctoral scientist to develop his/her expertise, broaden
his/her experience and interact with leading scientists from around the
world.

Ph.D. completed within the last 5 years in Physical Sciences
(Bio-physics, physical chemistry or structural biology) is required.
Previous experience in either neutron or X-ray scattering is required.
Experience with scattering applications in structural biology or soft
matter science would be a distinct advantage.

2) Post-Masters Associate: Bio-SANS Beam Line ORNL08-69-SCD
We seek a Post-Masters Associate to serve as the technical specialist in
assisting users and CSMB personnel in the performance of experiments and
in the design and development of the Bio-SANS beam line and equipment.

M.S. degree or equivalent in science or engineering is required. Direct
experience working on X-ray or neutron scattering related instruments
and software is highly desirable.

Applications with curriculum vitae, a brief description of research
interests and contact details for three academic referees should be
submitted on-line at https://www2.orau.gov/ORNL_POST/
<https://www2.orau.gov/ORNL_POST/> before the 31st May 2008.

The postdoctoral program is open to all qualified individuals without
regard to race, color, age, religion, sex, national origin, physical or
mental disability, or status. ORNL, a multi-program research facility
managed by UT-Battelle, LLC, for the U.S. Department of Energy, is an
equal opportunity employer committed to building and maintaining a
diverse work force.
