Job description: We are looking for a hands-on enthusiastic, self driven Physicist with a strong work ethics and serious interest in a scientific/academic career, to carry out his/her PhD thesis on a basic science project on the proton diffusion and conductivity in ceramics as a function of external pressure and temperature.

The candidate must have excellent analytical, writing and reporting skills.

The project involves the synthesis of ceramics, the design of in-situ cells, and the planning and execution of experiments at neutron and synchrotron sources in Europe and the USA, which requires international travel and also work at night, weekends and holidays.

This is a joint project between EMPA and PSI Switzerland.
Degree will be granted from ETH Zürich and/or EPFL Lausanne.
