The NIST Center for Neutron Research (NCNR<hxxp://www.ncnr.nist.gov/>) is seeking candidates for a position as Instrument Scientist for the SPINS cold triple axis spectrometer<hxxp://www.ncnr.nist.gov/instruments/spins/>.  The position is in the Condensed Matter Physics team which supervises thermal and cold neutron triple axis spectrometers.  A doctorate in condensed matter physics or related discipline and experience in triple-axis neutron spectrometry or related techniques is desirable but not essential.  The successful candidate is expected to assist scientific users on the SPINS spectrometer, contribute to ongoing and planning for future instrument upgrades, contribute to the running of the facility, as well as perform their own independent research taking advantage of the wide range of neutron instrumentation available at the NCNR.  Appointments typically are initially for two years with the possibility of extension for up to two additional years.  Salary is in the range from $70,000 to $80,000 depending on qualifications and experience.
