The Union for Compact Accelerator-driven Neutron Sources was formed in 2009 to support the ongoing development of small accelerator based neutron sources around the world, and to promote the exchange of information on emerging science and novel applications relevant to long-pulsed and/or medium-flux neutron sources. Recent advances in accelerator technology and neutronic design have made possible the construction of small-scale accelerator-driven neutron facilities that will be able to play a significant role in future advancements in neutron technology and science. This opens up new opportunities for organizations to enter the field of neutron physics with modest investments and without the proliferation and safety concerns associated with building a new research reactor.

Topics include:
      * accelerator & beam optics
         * target radiation damage & heat removal
         * moderator neutronics
         * optics devices & detectors
         * innovative instrumentation
         * emerging science and novel applications relevant to long-pulse and/or medium-flux neutron sources
