[Neutron] Workshop Announcement: New Directions for High Pressure Neutron Research

Dear colleagues,

We would like to invite you to an upcoming workshop on "New Directions for High Pressure Neutron Research", which will take place on June 3rd -5th at the Oak Ridge National Laboratory in Oak Ridge, Tennessee.

The goal of this workshop is to foster collaboration amongst instrument scientists, users with experience or interest in high-pressure neutron techniques, design engineers and sample environment experts by sharing recent scientific breakthroughs, research interests, and current needs in the field. Strong emphasis will be placed on exploring new scientific areas where high-pressure resources are required, defining development strategies, and outlining innovations and procedures aimed at increased portability of high pressure apparatus across different instruments and facilities.

The workshop will incorporate sessions devoted to relevant scientific areas in solid state physics, chemistry and geology, current high-pressure research at user facilities, and pressure-cell design and testing, all with an emphasis on neutron scattering. The list of invited speakers includes national and international experts in high-pressure research, both from academia and user facilities, as well as researchers that consider access to high-pressure capabilities a significant added value in their research. Contributed talks and posters from registered participants are also welcome.
There is no registration fee for this event, however participation is limited. Interested participants are encouraged to submit an abstract describing their potential oral or poster contribution or their personal interest in high pressure research and neutron scattering.  These submissions will be used to select contributed presentations, posters, and individual participation.
