The Laboratory for Neutron Scattering and Imaging (LNS) at the Paul Scherrer Institute in Villigen/Switzerland is looking for a

PhD student in the field of experimental physics

Your tasks:

- You will explore the crystallization process in colloidal model systems using scattering techniques (light-, X-ray-, and neutron-scattering) as well as confocal microscopy

- You will analyze scattering- and microscopy-data and furthermore, you will take part in developing new ways to interpret the experimental data, especially microscopy data

Your profile:

You have a Master degree in physics or chemistry. Good knowledge in statistical physics, previous knowledge in soft condensed matter physics as well as experience with scattering methods and/or microscopy are desired. Furthermore, you enjoy both experimental and theoretical work. Written as well as spoken English is required.

You will be part of an international team involving the Laboratory of Neutron Scattering and Imaging at PSI as well as the Soft Condensed Matter Laboratory at the Georgia Institute of Technology (Atlanta, USA). The workplace will be at the Georgia Institute of Technology during the first year and at PSI during the second and third year of the PhD.
