Triple Axis Spectrometer FLEXX - Instrument Scientist
Helmholtz Zentrum Berlin für Materialien und Energie (HZB) operates two large scale facilities for materials research: the neutron source BER II and the synchrotron source BESSY II, which provide deep insights into the structure of materials and the processes within complex systems. Each year around 3,000 scientists use the HZB infrastructure facilities. The Department Methods for Characterization of Transport Phenomena in Energy Materials operates the triple axis spectrometer for cold neutrons FLEXX in user service and engages in fundamental research on novel energy conversion materials with a particular focus on thermoelectric materials.
We invite applications for the position of a Postdoctoral Research Scientist.
The assignments include:
- support of external users at the triple axis spectrometer FLEXX
- independent performance of neutron scattering experiments at the triple axis spectrometer FLEXX
- maintenance and further development of the spectrometer FLEXX
- implementation of a high-quality research program on thermoelectric materials
The successful candidate should have a strong experimental background in solid state physics, in particular in inelastic neutron scattering and the demonstrated ability to work with guest researchers and technical support groups. Experience in thermoelectric materials research would be favorable.
 What we offer
Fixed term contract for 3 years. The employment contract is based on regulations for the German Civil Service (TVöD-Bund).
The deadline for applications is: October 30, 2015
Applications of women are particularly welcome. Preference will be given to disabled applicants provided that they are equally qualified. Applicants should send their electronic application and provide contact details of at least two referees, quoting Reference No. EM 2015/35 to <http://www.helmholtz-berlin.de/pubbin/sendmail?to=jobs@helmholtz-berlin.de> jobs at helmholtz-berlin.de<mailto:jobs at helmholtz-berlin.de> (Helmholtz-Zentrum Berlin für Materialien und Energie GmbH, Abt.
