The successful series of workshops on Sample Environment at Scattering Facilities will have its 9th edition in 2016 in Gettysburg, USA. Sample environment plays a crucial role for the success of a neutron or light scattering experiment. For many experiments a sophisticated sample environment is the key component for the scientific success of the experiment. With more complex sample environment setups to address increasingly demanding questions, the sample environment teams at neutron scattering facilities around the world started a closer collaboration with this series of workshops in 1999. Since 2014, with the foundation of the International Society for Sample Environment (ISSE, www.sampleenvironment.org<http://www.sampleenvironment.org/>), this collaboration has matured and added a continuous framework for the workshop series.

The workshop will cover all relevant sample environment topics to address topical science ranging from soft matter to extreme physical parameters. Both sample environment for neutron and synchrotron experiments are highlighted. An exhibition of specialized capabilities and technological innovation by commercial companies will give the opportunity for industrial contacts.

The 9th International Workshop on Sample Environment will bring together scientists, engineers and technicians, as well as leading suppliers, to exchange experience, form collaborations and discuss new ideas around a world class program of seminars and workshops. We welcome your input and look forward to your visit!
