On Tuesday 8 July morning the ILL’s high flux reactor was started after the long shut-down since August 2013. The reactor has run smoothly at 30 MW, allowing a series of test and validation exercises. Over the next days the series of tests and radioprotection controls will continue, in preparation for the next full cycle, beginning towards the end of August, when the experimental programmes of the ILL instruments will restart.
We are very pleased to announce this good news and we take this opportunity to thank all of the ILL personnel and external contractors whose exceptional work during the long shut-down made possible this successful restart.
