The final day of the SNI 2018 Conference ended with the presentation of the poster prizes and the Wolfram Prandl Prize Lecture.

A prize for protein solutions

The Wolfram Prandl Prize for excellent work in neutron scattering was won this year by Felix Rosen-Runge from Lund University, Sweden. Following the presentation, he shared his “Integrated Perspectives on Crowded Protein Solutions” with conference delegates in the Prize Lecture.

The Prize was established in 2001 to commemorate Professor Wolfram Prandl (University of Tübingen)and is open to young neutron scattering scientists under 40 years old.

Three prizes for three posters

The three poster prize-winners for this year’s conference were:
  • Matthias Dodenhoeft (TUM) for his poster on Novel Reflection High-Energy Positron Diffractometer at NEPOMUC
  • Michael Leitner (MLZ/TUM) for his poster on Continuous transition from antiferro- to ferromagnetic state via moment canting in Ni2-xCoxMnAl
  • Konstantin Krausert (DESY/University of Hamburg) for his poster on Ultra small iron nanoparticle superlattice on graphene on iridium

These prizes are the very first prizes sponsored by Quantum Beam Science — Open Access Journal. The selection committee comprised representatives from all three main organising committees: KFN, KFS, KFSI

The three-day German Conference for Research with Synchrotron Radiation, Neutrons and Ion Beams at Large Facilities event was attended by over 500 delegates and held at the Maier-Leibnitz Zentrum in Garching near Munich, Germany.
